Charles Pétillon,
ArtistPétillon's process is characterised by meticulous planning and control. He carefully orchestrates light, staging, and composition in his photographs, and designs his installations with interactive elements like lighting changes, sound generation, and motion-activated balloons. This attention to detail creates an aura of essentialized subjects, inviting intuitive perception.
His monumental installations, such as the 100,000-balloon display at Covent Garden and his work at Paris-Charles de Gaulle airport, transform public spaces, prompting viewers to reconsider their surroundings and the complex relationship between humanity and the environment. These works, along with his photographic series, evoke a sense of suspension and potential, where the "before" and "after" are visualised through the flowing movement of the balloons, encouraging viewers to anticipate the next moment and reflect on the subtle imprints of human presence.
